The UNIVERSITY OF LOS ANDES identified with Nit. 860.007.386-1. It is a legal entity under private law, dedicated to education and culture, organized as a non-profit corporation of common utility, with independent legal status and academic, administrative and financial autonomy. Supervised by the Ministry of National Education, recognized as a legal entity by Resolution No. 28 of 23 February 1949 issued by the Ministry of Justice.
The UNIVERSITY OF LOS ANDES, guarantees the protection of rights such as Habeas Data, privacy, intimacy, good name, image and university autonomy, for this purpose all actions will be governed by principles of good faith, legality, computer self-determination, freedom and transparency.

  • Personal Data

    The Universidad de los Andes, as the party responsible for the Processing of Information, applies the Data Processing Policy in any activity, including academic, research, commercial and labour activities, whether permanent or occasional, in which personal data may be provided.
  • Regulations

    The activities carried out by the Institution in relation to the Protection of Personal Data are carried out in accordance with the regulations in force issued by the regulatory bodies in this area. Likewise, all actions are supported by internal guidelines and procedures, which are framed within the Institutional principles and good practices.
  • Rights

    At the Universidad de los Andes, we have processes and tools to guarantee compliance with the right of individuals to know, update and rectify the data we process in the different academic and administrative activities.

    National Database Register
    The National Database Registry -RNBD- is the public directory of the databases subject to processing that operate in the country; which is freely available for consultation by citizens, in accordance with the regulations issued by the National Government for this purpose. The Universidad de los Andes proceeds in accordance with the regulations in force and registers its databases in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce.

    Principles for Data Processing

    The Universidad de los Andes shall apply the following specific principles set out below, which constitute the rules to be followed in the collection, handling, use, processing, storage and exchange of personal data.
      • Legality: In the use, capture, collection and processing of personal data, the current and applicable provisions governing the processing of personal data and other related fundamental rights shall be applied.
      • Freedom: The use, capture, collection and processing of personal data may only be carried out with the prior, express and informed consent of the Data Subject. Personal data may not be obtained or disclosed without prior authorization, or in the absence of a legal, statutory or judicial mandate that relieves consent.
      • Purpose: The use, capture, collection and processing of personal data to which the University of the Andes has access and are collected and gathered by the University of the Andes, will be subordinated and will serve a legitimate purpose, which must be informed to the respective holder of the personal data.
      • Truthfulness or quality: The information subject to use, capture, collection and processing of personal data must be truthful, complete, accurate, updated, verifiable and understandable. The processing of partial, incomplete, fragmented or misleading data is prohibited.
      • Transparency: In the use, capture, collection and processing of personal data, the right of the Data Subject to obtain from the Universidad de los Andes, at any time and without restrictions, information about the existence of any type of information or personal data that is of interest or ownership, must be guaranteed.
      • Restricted access and circulation: Personal data, except for public information, may not be made available on the Internet or other means of dissemination or mass communication, unless access is technically controllable in order to provide restricted knowledge only to Data Holders or authorized third parties. For these purposes, the obligation of the Universidad de los Andes will be medium.
      • Security:The personal data and information used, captured, collected and subject to treatment by the Universidad de los Andes, will be subject to protection to the extent that technical resources and minimum standards allow, through the adoption of technological protection measures, protocols, and all kinds of administrative measures that are necessary to provide security to the records and electronic repositories avoiding their adulteration, modification, loss, consultation, and in general against any unauthorised use or access.
